Advanced Skin Peels

The Blue Radiance Peel from Obagi

The Blue Radiance Peel from Obagi is a quick and non-invasive treatment consisting of salicylic acid that helps improve overall complexion. The peel is designed to improve a variety of skin conditions including acne scars, melasma and sun damage (e.g., wrinkles, visible lines, uneven skin tone and pigmentation). Obagi’s Blue Radiance Peel is safe for all skin types and tones, as it is custom-made to fit each patient’s needs. The treatment requires no downtime and can be performed in about 30 minutes. In fact, the Blue Radiance Peel is one of our most popular “lunchtime” treatments.

This is a superficial peel that reaches into the epidermis and it does not require specific preparation, except for the skin prep immediately prior to doing the peel. The upper epidermal layers are stimulated and after the Radiance Blue Peel the skin has a reddish glow for 2 to 3 days after which a very fresh looking skin manifests. This peel has virtually no down time and can be done frequently to stimulate the skin, restoring the normal epidermal skin cycle.

What it treats?

  • Significantly improves active acne and acne scarring.
  • Improves skin texture
  • Minimises pore size
  • Reduces fine-lines and wrinkles
  • Improves uneven skin tone and pigmentation
  • Improves over all skin complexion

Sessions

While you will notice, your skin looks younger and smoother after one treatment. For optimum results, we recommend having a peel treatment every two to four weeks, for a total of four to six peels especially on particular skin concerns.

Procedure time

The treatment requires no downtime and is over in about 30-45 minutes. To prepare you for treatment, your specialist will thoroughly cleanse your face and apply the Obagi Radiance Peel Prep Solution to your skin. Once the solution has dried, your skin specialist will apply the first layer of the Blue Radiance solution to the treatment area. Your skin care specialist may reapply the solution several times, depending on your skin’s sensitivity and the severity of your skin condition. The product may remain on the skin for up to 12 minutes. The peel is then removed using a gentle cleanser and the face is rinsed with water. To protect your skin following treatment, we will apply a non-chemical sunscreen to your face. Immediately after your treatment, you will notice your skin looks younger, smoother and tighter.

Does it hurt?

It is common to experience some degree of heat or tingling during the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel treatment. However, in most cases this will be mild.

Recovery time

Please avoid shaving on the day of treatment pre or post treatment. We will not be able to treat patients with, active cold sores or warts, wounds, sunburn, excessively sensitive skin, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea in the area, because the procedure could potentially precipitate a flare up or spreading.

If you have a history of cold sores, antiviral medication may be used prior to treatment and continued for one week after.

Who should avoid Obgai Blue Radiance Peel?

This treatment is safe for most people and people of all skin tones. However, no one treatment is right for everyone.

You should not have OBAGI Blue Radiance Peel if you:

  • Heal slowly or poorly
  • Active Cold sores
  • Have a weakened immune system due to a medical condition or medication
  • Being treated for Cancer
  • If you have taken Roaccutane (isotretinoin) within the past year, or received chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

There are also certain times when this Peel should not be performed. Your specialist will advise and wait to treat you if you have:

  • Been in the direct sun light prior to treatment or thinking about going into the sun in the days post treatment.
  • A skin infection
  • Broken skin
  • Active Cold sore
